ROSI OLDENBURG IS AN ARTIST who lives and breathes art. From a very early age, she pursued her inner passion to create art… art that embraces a diverse mix of mediums from oils, acrylics and watercolour to colored pencil, graphite and much more. No canvas was too large as Rosi painted murals on walls that were waiting to become art.
Born and raised in Germany, Rosi loved art, even at a young age, yet was not able to explore and develop her talents. At age 14, she entered a contest to win a scholarship at the Stuttgart Art Academy, but her work was rejected because the judges thought that she had ‘hired help’. Rosi has had no formal training and is completely self-taught. She believes an artist should be able to paint in various styles. Throughout her adult life, Rosi continued to explore her creative nature painting in various mediums.
Rosi has exhibitions at galleries throughout the Pacific Northwest and has many collectors of her work throughout the United States, Germany and other countries worldwide. She is also an illustrator for magazines and has been published in notables, including the Global Fly Fisher , Fly Dreamers , Alaska Signature Flies , Fly Fusion Magazine , De Nederlandse Vliegvisser , Vagabond Fly , Salmon & Steelhead Journal, Colored Pencil Magazine, Global Game Angler and the Smithsonian Tropical Institute.
Rosi is also one of the featured artist in a new book entitled “America’s Favorite Flies“.
